My name is Kelly and I am a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach through the Institute for Transformational Nutrition. I started Be Your Best Self to help as many people as possible to transform their own health so they can look and feel their best.
Almost 20 years ago, I started to have major fatigue problems after enduring an entire winter of one illness after another—ending up with pneumonia. It was as if someone flipped a switch and suddenly I had a lot of difficulty sleeping and even when I slept, I was always tired. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and tried for years to use a c-pap machine unsuccessfully—and I was even taking a massive dose of Xanax to sleep.
Ten and a half years ago, when I had my first child, my health problems grew. Right after my daughter was born, I began having stiffness and pain in my muscles and joints. I was taking ibuprofen daily to function. I also had serious post-partem issues and was prescribed an anti-depressant. I started taking some supplements that helped, but I was still taking sleep medications nightly. I ditched the c-pap and got a TAP appliance—which goes inside your mouth, fitting over your teeth—and this was much better than the c-pap.
Fast forward five years, another child, and a few miscarriages and the bottom fell out from under me. I started taking a different anti-depressant and it threw me into a nightmare of a tailspin. I was only on it for four months, one of which was coming off of it and it almost killed me. I had so many multi-system issues that no one had a clue what was wrong with me. I saw a lot of doctors and had a lot of tests and got few answers. I knew that I was going to have to figure things out myself.
Things that I have been diagnosed with:
- Severe sleep apnea
- Chronic lyme disease
- Heavy metal toxicity
- MTHFR SNP’s—as well as other SNP’s
- Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome
- Antibiotic resistant nasal staph infection
- Adrenal tumor
- Adrenal Fatigue
- Vitamin D deficiency
- H. Pylori
- And more
I can’t say that I have all of this figured out yet—after all, when recovering from chronic illness, vibrant health is a journey, not a destination. But I have made great strides. I am off of all prescription medication—no sleeping pills after more than a decade of taking them nightly and no anti-depressants. I don’t have issues with the sleep apnea anymore and I don’t have allergy problems. Most of the things that I have been diagnosed with have been dealt with and are no longer issues. I had to research a lot on my own to find answers. I learned that diet and lifestyle changes can make a massive difference in our health.
That is why I decided to become a nutrition coach—so that I could help others to make the changes that will help them to look and feel their best.
Isn’t it time for you to Be Your Best Self?
